2013 Clinical Skills Competition Winners head to OrandoCategory: ASHP, conferences, Student Organizations
In what is now our fourth year participating in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Clinical Skills Competition, we are very pleased to announce P3 students Dorothy Tran and Binh Dam as this year’s winners!
The Clinical Skills Competition (CSC) is an interactive, team-based analysis of clinical scenarios for hospital/health-system pharmacists. It provides pharmacy students the opportunity to enhance their skills in collaborative practice with physicians in providing direct patient care. Local competitions are held each fall on college campuses around the nation. The national competition takes place at the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando this weekend.
Dorothy and Binh will receive a complimentary Midyear Meeting registration (valued at $225) to compete at the national level competition. “We are very excited and honored to have the privilege to represent Touro at the National Clinical Skills Competition this year. We see this competition as an opportunity to challenge ourselves and see where we are at the national level, and to also learn from other students in different schools” Binh said. To best prepare for the competition, Binh knows that it will take a lot of work and collaboration between the partners are key! “We are preparing by reviewing one topic at a time during the weekdays on our own time and then coming together on the weekends to have discussions regarding that topic. We’ve also been using old cases (locally and nationally) from the past years that we are available on the ASHP website to study.”
